Take Two in Townsville

Jayden Ojeda was happy with a strong weekend in Townsville last weekend as the Dunlop Super2 Series resumed.

The MWM JAYCO Nissan Altima scored finishes of second and third across the two races on the weekend. Experienced racer Tim Blanchard pipped Jayden in Sunday’s race, and was second overall on countback.

For Jayden, achieving his first overall podium of the season consolidated his standing as a title hopeful.

“It was a strong weekend for us to finish basically top three in every session is a good result, but we need to get a little bit more out of the car and a bit more out of me as well.”

Jayden is currently third in the series after last weekend, and he wants to keep it that way when Round 3 unfolds at the same circuit this weekend.

“It was a strong weekend in the Jayco #31, a second and a third in the races,” said Ojeda, heading to this weekend’s WD-40 Townsville SuperSprint.

“I had a good race there with Tim in that last race, but ultimately just lost out on track and tied in the round points, so I got relegated to third [on a countback], but ultimately happy with the round,” he said.

Jayden’s focus now turns to this weekends round, where he has two more 21-lap races to  battle his way up the championship further. Super2 are back on the support card when the WD-40 Townsville SuperSprint takes place this weekend (July 17-18).
