OJEDA’S SANDOWN 500 ENDURO

Jayden Ojeda paired up with Jack Le Brocq in the Truck Assist Racing Camaro endured an unlucky day in the 500km race at Sandown last weekend.

The Sandown 500 was the first race of this year’s Supercars enduro campaign, which saw it return as a precursor to the Bathurst 1000. The MSR cars had some great pace all day, but unfortunately luck wasn’t on their side.

After starting the race Jayden was running in the top 10 until being forced to double stack in the pit stop under safety car, and a late mechanical black flag for some body work damage hurt Car #34, before finally finishing 16th.

“I had a great time down in Melbourne for the Sandown 500 with Matt Stone Racing and Jack Le Brocq,” said Ojeda.

“The race itself was tough, a poor start meant we had to double stack in the pitstop when we pitted in the first stint under a safety car, resulting in us losing track position. As a result, the team opted to run an alternate strategy and move to five stops instead of the four stops, which the rest of the field chose.”

“Unfortunately, this strategy was thrown out the window when we received a black flag for loose body work. We had to pit out of sequence to repair the body work, putting us onto the same tyre strategy as everyone else, but having done an extra stop” he added.

“Strategy aside I felt like we had a really strong race car, every time I was in the car, we were passing cars, which is always a good feeling, and our tyre life was strong”.

“I think heading into the Bathurst 1000 in a few weeks, we have plenty of potential and I’m really looking forward to the big one, knowing what we know now!”

“I really would like to thank all my partners, including City Hino, AJM Transport, Johnny H Adventures, That Patio Guy, Nepean Regional Security and Atkinson Pontifex for all helping me,” said Jayden.

The endurance season continues with the Bathurst 1000 on October 5th to 8th.
