Jayden’s Home Track Happy Days
AGI Sport’s Jayden Ojeda has returned to his dominant ways, taking a clean sweep of three race wins in Round Six of the 2018 CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The championship leader added a maximum of 75 points to his already strong lead, and now has a 51-point buffer over teammate Ryan Suhle in the 2018 Championship.
It was also a record-breaking feat by Jayden, breaking the record of 10 race wins in a single season. Jayden has become the all-time record holder of race wins in a CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship season, with 12 race wins this season, with one round still remaining.
Jayden has now proven himself the most dominant Formula 4 driver ever of the Australian Formula 4 Championship.
Jayden, who only lives some 15 minutes away from Sydney Motorsport Park, was thrilled to win on his and his teams, AGI Sport, home turf. Jayden took advantage of his home track knowledge to steer to the front of every race despite not qualifying first in any of the races
“To come to our home track and perform really strong is a great representation of our team,” Ojeda said. “We had a great weekend with three wins and to get those 12 race wins is just unbelievable, I just can’t thank all my sponsors enough. SMS Diesel, OE Germany, Kaato, Sakura Filters, Engine Sensors Australia and Pure Traveller, my family and their massive support and Martin who does a lot behind the scenes, I wouldn’t be here without them,” Jayden smiled.
Team mate Ryan Suhle topped both practice sessions and secured pole positions in Races One and Three but Jayden found himself pushing to the front and winning all 3 races.
In Race 1 on Saturday it was a lights-to-flag victory for Jayden in the 11 lap opening race, who interrupted teammate Ryan Suhle’s streak of quickest practice and qualifying times to win over Aaron Love by two seconds.
“I can’t feel better any doing this at my home track like this. I’ve got my whole family and a few friends as well. Really happy with how the car was and we’ll see how we go in the reverse grid race.”
It was a near miss for Jayden during the opening stages of race two. Team mate Ryan Suhle endured a wild ride to spin out on the approach to turn eight on the opening lap. Ojeda nearly followed Suhle off into the grass but managed to hold on track.
“Race Two was crazy! I started fifth, got up to about fourth when Ryan and I were side-by-side for that first lap. Then we went up to turn seven, and we both pushed in too hard. I think he pushed a bit harder than I did and he fell off the track. I got two wheels off the track, he went around, I was close to collecting him”.

The final race of the round was a dream 1-2 finish for AGI Sport. Jayden took the win to make it 3/3 this weekend, with team mate Ryan Suhle a close 2nd place.
The 2018 CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship will be decided at Pukekohe November 2-4.
New Zealand’s Pukekohe will host the seventh and final round of the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship, supporting the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship at the ITM Auckland SuperSprint on 2–4 November.
