Ojeda holds strong in Formula Ford Round 2
Following his two race victories in the opening round at Sandown, Jayden Ojeda was again a front-runner in Round 2 of the Australian Formula Ford Series at Wakefield Park on April 1st and 2nd.
Following his podium performance in the season opener, where Ojeda won the Shell Helix Fastest Lap Award, he was determined to maintain the pace into round 2 in his Borland Racing Developments Spectrum 015.
Ojeda qualified fourth and finished third in the first two races, before sustaining damage in an unfortunate incident in the final and limping home in 12th place.
“Overall it was an up-and-down weekend – we had good speed in each race but we weren’t quite able to exploit it,” Ojeda said.
“We scored some good points in the first two races but in Race 3 at the Safety Car restart, I was hit from behind – it bent the wishbone and I just had to nurse the car to the chequered flag.
“There are still a lot of positives to take out of the weekend as our race pace was really strong.”
After a strong campaign in the 2016 Formula Ford national series, in which he scored two pole positions, won two races and finished fourth in the standings, Ojeda is aiming to be a genuine title contender this season.
Round 3 of the 2017 Australian Formula Ford Series will be held as a support category to the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship at Winton Raceway on 19-21 May.
Jayden Ojeda is proudly supported by Borland Racing Developments, VHT, SMS Diesel Spares, Sakura Filteration, Febi, Engine Sensors Australia, OE Germany, and Pure Traveller, AMC, Valley Fitness St Marys, Stone Gaskets, Mahle-Izumi and CH Robinson Freight Forwarders.
