Ojeda prepared to tackle the Mountain

Series leading rookie Jayden Ojeda is looking forward to tackling the mountain for the first time in a Supercar in his MW Motorsport Nissan Altima in the Dunlop Super2 Series at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Ojeda has already enjoyed success in the Dunlop Super2 Series with two podium finishes and a third outright at the recent SMP round, following a successful debut at the Superloop Adelaide 500 round coming home fourth overall.

Ojeda, who has raced at Bathurst in a Formula Ford and a BMW Production car, hopes to maintain his momentum, and climb into the series top three.

“Who doesn’t love Bathurst” Ojeda admitted. “It’s one of the world’s great circuits and I am looking forward to learning to get the Supercar around it. Those first few laps are going to be a massive thrill, bring it on. To be racing the JAYCO Nissan Altima for Matt White Motorsport is fantastic, I cannot wait to send it down the mountain.”

“I have been focussed on my preparation going into the event, I am doing everything I can to ensure I am giving myself a chance” he said.

The 21-year-old Ojeda reserved special thanks for team owner Matt White for his hard work on getting the team to Bathurst.

“The MW Motorsport team have been amazing. Matt White and the team have never given up, the dedication shown to race at Bathurst has been relentless. The sacrifice by the team to prepare the cars and to get to Darwin to quarantine has been inspirational. I owe it to the team and my sponsors to deliver my best” he said.

Team owner Matt White agreed: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to race at Bathurst this year, it will be a reward for the crew who have made such sacrifices”.

“Jayden has showed us he is capable of racing the experienced guys and getting results. He has acquitted himself really well and we are happy we can give another young gun the opportunity to further their career. Jayden has had a great rookie year, and he deserves the chance to race for the championship around Mt Panorama” said White.

“I’d also like to thank all my amazing sponsors for sticking with us with during these challenging times” Ojeda added.” A big thank you to JAYCO, VISA Global Logistics, AJM Transport, City Hino, Sparesbox, Palm Trans, One Point Health, CH Robinson and Johnny H Adventures.”

The Bathurst Dunlop Super2 event has been confirmed as two 100 km races, 16 lap races both Friday and Saturday, with a dedicated qualifying session for each race. Super2 races will lead into the Supercars Top 10 Qualifying and Shootout.

The 2020 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 will be held on October 15-18.
