Jayden Locked in for Bathurst 1000 Co-Drive

Matt Stone Racing announced today that Jayden ‘The Juice’ Ojeda will co-pilot the #35 Yellow Cover entry with Zane Goddard at this year’s Bathurst 1000.

“I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Zane for the Bathurst 1000 in the #35! It has been a chaotic year so far, so I am looking forward to heading to Bathurst and turning some extra laps.” Says Jayden.

MSR team owner Matt Stone said, “We have been assessing our co-driver options for a while now and wanted to have a good look at the top Super2 talent as well as some experienced drivers. We generally prefer to support the younger drivers, but at the same time this is Zane’s Championship so the most important factor is to have a safe pair of hands who understands the role of a co-driver and will work well with Zane and the team.”

At just 22 years old, Jayden has made his name known to many in the Supercars paddock. Making headlines in 2020, Jayden made his Bathurst 1000 debut in a GRM commodore.

Earlier this year, Ojeda caught everyone’s eye when he put his Dunlop Super 2 car on pole position at the opening event of the season in Bathurst. Since then, he has continued to excel in the category with 4 consecutive top 3 results, ultimately landing himself with double round podiums across the back-to-back Townsville events.

This haul of consistent results has placed Jayden third in the current Super 2 championship standings, just 87 points adrift from series leader Broc Feeney.

“After a solid performance in Super2 so far this year, and the advantage of having done his first Bathurst 1000 race last year, we decided that the time was right for Jayden to deliver a solid enduro performance this year with our team.” Stated Stone.

To have Jayden join the team and pair up with Zane for the one and only endurance race on the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship calendar is very exciting. Stone then added, “We think that the combination of Zane and Jayden can deliver a very good result in the Yellow Cover Racing car if everything goes to plan.”

“Last year was a very different Bathurst 1000 without the large fan presence. It will be great to have all the fans back this year as it really changes the energy around the whole week.” Ojeda said before continuing on to say, “I completed a co-driver evaluation in September and really gelled with the #35 ZB Commodore and the whole Matt Stone Racing crew. I think we have a strong package and can be in for a strong result at the end of 161 laps.”

The entire team have welcomed Jayden with open arms and are already impressed with his work ethic and commitment to the sport.

“I’m really looking forward to racing in the Bathurst 1000 with MSR. It’s great to have the chance to take part in Australia’s biggest race, so exciting.” said Jayden

“I really would like to thank all my partners, including Jayco, Lets Go Motorhomes, City Hino, Nepean Regional Security, Mondiale VGL, AJM Transport, Sparesbox, Johnny H Adventures, The Western Weekender & Parra News, One Point Health and Super 6 High Performance for all helping me” he added.
